Wheel-thrown dark brown clay goblet with hand painted goat, cosmos flower frame, moons, stars and leafy background.

Inside is glazed with a food safe, clear glaze.

Outside is unglazed and matte, and feels like smooth stone. It is sealed with a product called Liquid Quartz, which is a food safe sealant designed specifically for ceramic that keeps the outside water tight and stain resistant.

*** This piece is discounted because it fell victim to an issue in my construction of the goblets - which was likely trimming the area where the stem meets the cup too thin. This area requires more clay in order to reinforce the joint between those two separate pieces of clay, and because it was trimmed too thin the cup and the stem actually separated during the first kiln firing. Rather than lose this piece completely and tossing it, I chose to attempt to "glaze glue" the two pieces together. This means I added glaze between the cup and the stem, which fused the two of them together during the glaze firing. I have been personally using a goblet that this happened to and have even used it in the dishwasher and it was not been a problem. But in theory this goblet has a weak point still and should be treated with extra care to avoid wacking it against a hard surface, or dropping it. This piece is also slightly warped with the lip, meaning it's more ovular rather than a perfect circle. ***

Approximate Measurements:

Liquid capacity (oz): 14

Height (inches): 6

Width (inches): 3.75

Interior lip diameter (inches): 2.75

This piece is food safe. It would typically be microwave and dishwasher safe, but I would highly recommend giving it extra care than you would normally (due to the flaw mentioned above) and avoid anything that may be rough on this piece, such as dramatic temperature changes or a potentially rough dishwasher.
