Wheel-thrown dark brown clay goblet with hand painted snake, flowers and stars.
Inside and outside is glazed with a food safe, clear glaze.
*** This piece is discounted because the interior floor of the piece was pushed too hard while the stem was being added, which resulted in it caving outward into the inside of the cup. This doesn't cause any functional or safety issues, but is just a little weird. The main issue and reason for discount is that a crack developed during the kiln firings where the stem meets the cup. My estimate is this meeting joint was trimmed too thin, where it should have had extra clay at that area to reinforce the joint. This has created a weak point on the piece, so extra care should be taken to avoid wacking it against a hard surface, or dropping it. I decided to fully glaze this piece on the exterior as well in the hopes that glaze would fill the crack and help reinforce it. Unfortunately in my opinion this glaze just doesn't look great over my painted designs, as it has tiny bubbles which can make it appear cloudy. So this piece is heavily discounted for all of those reasons! ***
Approximate Measurements:
Liquid capacity (oz): 12
Height (inches): 5.5
Width (inches): 3.5
Interior lip diameter (inches): 2.75
This piece is food safe. It would typically be microwave and dishwasher safe, but I would highly recommend giving it extra care than you would normally (due to the flaw mentioned above) and avoid anything that may be rough on this piece, such as dramatic temperature changes or a potentially rough dishwasher.
